Walking for Wishes

The Statue of Liberty doesn't pose well for pictures; she has her back to New Jersey. It's a great park, though, and we plan on going back someday to just hang out.

After the walk

We took a few rest stops and looked at the view of Manhattan from the park. It was chilly but not cold.

I was REALLY HUNGRY, so we ended the trip by going out to lunch. We met the Jacksons and the boys at the Mall and had lunch at Applebees. All in all, a lovely day!

Family photo again :)

Alyssa's sweet 16 had a "black and white" dress code. Which wasn't too difficult to come up with.

Frank and Nick at Alyssa's Sweet 16

They really didn't dance at all. Frank blames me -- he said he couldn't dance with his family there. Nick says he just prefers to watch the dancing, that it was funny. I kinda agree; it was truly interesting.

Happy Sweet 16, Alyssa!

Birthdayssss

Frankie's 18th birthday just passed... EEEK! I have no good photos yet, because I didn't take any, but Pop and Gram Kemper did. HOW COULD I HAVE FORGOTTEN MY CAMERA?????

But today is Alyssa, my niece,'s sweet 16th party. She actually turned 16 over the summer and waited to have her party. So we'll all be going there, and I will DEFINITELY bring my camera, and I should have some good photos to post tomorrow. At least of my own family.

It's also around Charles' birthday, and he's around 11 or so, I'm not sure of the exact age. I'm going with Pokemon cards as a gift, though. I hope it isn't only William who likes them now...

Talk to ya later or tomorrow!

Our garden harvest

I used to be really into gardening. I grew all different veggies... tomatoes, zucchini, cukes, stringbeans, occasionally eggplant, sometimes lettuce, we tried brocoli and sugar snap peas, and even did some corn (hardly enough to make it worthwhile.)

Then, I started getting tired of the garden. It was a lot of work, and no one wanted to eat veggies. No one liked veggies. Bugs started eating things, and so did small animals. I gave up.

Thor started gardening recently. He is specializing in peppers and tomatoes. Here is some of our crop.

Mind you, we don't go through very many peppers here.

Pepper butts

Do you see them? The butts? Ok, is that just a little too weird? Sorry.

I'm back... did you miss me?

Well, I'm better than I was, but not 100%. I have no idea why my eyes are messed up right now. I've left my contacts out for more than a week, seen two eye doctors and a regular doctor, and used drops. My eyes are better, but my corneas are still inflammed. My vision is good for a while, and then goes blurry, and then is good again.

But I can see well enough to go online (right now I can, anyway) and I missed blogging so I'm back anyway.

I'll post more later...

Blogging Break

Hi all... I have to take a break from blogging for a week or so. My eyes are giving me trouble and I can't see well right now. The eye doctor said my "corneas are inflammed" and that I need to give my eyes a rest from contacts, and it's really making me blind as a bat.

So I'm going to try really hard to stay off the computer completely for the next week or so. But don't forget about me! Come back in about two weeks, I should be back to normal... and maybe by then something interesting will have happened, so the blog won't be so boring!

More Hiking Photos

I don't really have anything interesting to write about, and Pink Dogwood said to post more, so... you don't have to ask me twice!

A beautiful Weekend for Hiking!

We had a lovely weekend. We hiked all day Saturday, and I took huge numbers of pictures.

I decided to post an entry, so I posted a photo and wrote a little bit about the weekend. But then, I was looking at all my photos... I like every photo more than the next. I actually filled a 258 mb SD card! So I'm posting a bunch more of them...

Dinner on the Trail

One of Nick's favorite foods is Ramen noodles. So we brought our backpacking stove and Ramen noodles, and had dinner on the trail.
