Word(less) Wednesday

Sometimes there are no words, sometimes there is only a feeling, and the feeling only plays around the edges
and you can't really put it in a picture.
Sometimes it's wednesday, which is a good day to be wordless, but there's something on the tip of your mind that you feel and you want to get out and you can't. Did that ever happen to you?

I'm wishing a lot today, but not for a car or for money or anything like that ... It's more of a wishing for intangibles, I'm wishing for the woods, for wandering, it's the wish list song from Pearl Jam - I wish I was the full moon shining off your camaro's hood....

Not a boat video.

I made a video. Actually, I made two videos. I made a boat video. But it's a little short; some pieces are missing.

But I also had 613 pictures for a campfire video. Well, actually, it's a slide show. But... That's at LEAST 400 more pictures than I usually put in a slide show. And I took them so it looked like a video; I was experimenting with stop action photography.

So I ended up making this fire video instead of a boat video. Hopefully Thor will take some photos this weekend if he goes on the boat; and then we will have enough photos to finish the boat video the way I really want it.

So here it is.

The fire one, not the boat one.

Us in a bar. For exactly 32 seconds.

You really don't need to see this. It's not that interesting.
But we had fun.

Our Appalachian Trail Adventure as the Venture Crew

Our Venturing Crew had decided to do Kodiak training - which is a leadership training program - on a trek.

We took canoes out on Monday morning, from Dingman's Ferry in Pennsylvania. We slept overnight along the river, and finished our canoe trip on Tuesday.

Frankie picked us up at that point and drove us to the Mohican Outdoor Center, where we met several thru-hikers -- people who are hiking the Appalachian Trail all the way from one end to another. I have a really good story about a thru-hiker, a guy called Sondance, that I'll write tomorrow.

Early(ish) on Wednesday, we started our hike. It wasn't long before my heart was pounding in my chest and my blood was pounding in my ears and I really thought I wasn't going to make it. In fact, I called Frankie and told him to be ready to pick me up at the next road! But everyone pushed me to keep going, and I did.

There were some great views along the way, and some phenomenal experiences. We all had a great time.

The hike ended on Friday... but the boys all hope to be thru-hikers themselves some day!

So many photos, I had to put them on a slide show!
Here is what the trip looked like, if you are interested. I have so much more to write, but tomorrow is another day!

Happy Fourth of July!

I started this video back in February, when we went to visit Asbury Park.
I finished it just now... 3 AM. I couldn't stop playing!

Now, it's time to go to bed. I'm supposed to get up early tomorrow! (yeah, maybe!)
I've got a party to get to down the shore, and the traffic is going to be murder!

This was ages ago - Hot Sand in Asbury Park

Remember back on Valentines Day, I said we went to Asbury Park and blew a glass bubble? I've been wanting to do the photo slide show from that day for ages now, but my computer was giving some kind of weird error message every time I tried. Now, though, Thor got it fixed. So I put together a video.

Some of the photos aren't in the right order, because I can't exactly remember the definite order everything was done in. I like creating these little slide shows... I hope I get better at it! I have ideas for a few more.

Let me know what you think!

Arc

I haven't posted an Eddy Vedder video in at least a week. So here ya go. WATCH IT, I'm tellin' ya! Well, you might not like it. It's very tribal, chanting. He samples his voice and keeps looping it back.

When we went to the NJ PAC last week ... was it just last week? Or two weeks ago? Anyway, he did Arc then. It was way better than this one. It was a total goosebumps experience. But this is good too.

I don't know why noone is allowed to post videos for that show.

Anyway, I'm in a music mood.

Pearl Jam.

OK, I've put videos of Pearl Jam on here before, and I know you all don't really care, but I went to the show on Tuesday -- and Frank and Frankie went to the show on Wednesday, also -- and you all have NO IDEA what kind of an experience.

The video doesn't do it much justice, either. I searched the you tube site, and this was one of several good clips. But you just can't get the full effect. The camera has an eye that's too small. The microphone isn't big enough. You can't feel the vibrations.

I'm telling you, it's like a religion. More than a little.

No one around here, of my friends, have any interest in Pearl Jam. No one of the kids friends do either. It almost feels like no one likes them. And yet the concert was sold out within 7 minutes. I know of people who came from Greece and Portugal and Texas to be at this show. When you start to really get into it, you are willing to spend the money to travel purely for the concert.

Every seat was full, and every person in the stadium seemed to know every word to every song. People were singing and dancing. The concrete stadium was actually bouncing, literally. It doesn't usually.

I hated Pearl Jam when I first heard them. They were too hard, and all the words blurred together, I had no idea what they were saying. But after years, I'm converted.

Garden (live)
Time: 6:52
Gossard, Ament, Vedder
From the single "Dissident"
She don't wander in here don't wander in here she
She don't wander in here don't wander in here
The direction of the eye so misleading
The defection of the soul yea nauseously clear
I don't question our existence
I just question our modern needs don't wander in here she
She don't wander in here
I will walk with my hands bound
I will walk with my face blood
I will walk with my shadow flag
A-into your garden garden of stone yeah
After all is done and we're still alone yea
I won't be taken yet I'll go with my hands bound
I will walk with my face blood
I will walk with my shadow flag
Into your garden garden of stone-ah yeah
I don't show I don't share
I don't need yeah What you have to give yeah ah
Oooh I will walk with my hands bound
I will walk with my face blood
I will walk with my shadow flag
Into your garden garden oh
I will walk with my hands bound
I will walk into your garden garden of stone yea
I don't show I don't care
I don't need yeah no need to live me to live me to live Ha

I still don't know exactly what he's saying, but the feeling comes through.
