Sun rise at the waterfront

I thought of this one when I was at the "Relay for Life" walkathon... I went to watch the sun rise and wanted to paint it. Although I was alone on the park bench :P
I started it a while ago, but I just finished it last night. It didn't come out the way I wanted it to... but then again, none of them really do... but I like it pretty much.

You know when I look at it, I'm not certain it's finished.

Looks finished to me. What else do you want to do? jd

I lengthened the lines of lights a bit. I'm still not sure. You know I get an image in my head but it never comes out exactly like I see it.

Wow! That is truly beautiful! Is it oil?
Sue, we try to imagine a scene and paint.. but it hardly comes out the same.. it happens.. for that, we have to be open to our creations.. whatever gradually appears is a dear creation.. Like.. I always try to paint the night sky.. but end up creating something close to twilight because I hardly use black.. I'm scared of using black in my paintings..

Punam, I know what you mean about being afraid to use black, when I have too much of it I lose all detail, but the look of night is precisely what I want to show. It's so difficult! I have serious trouble with painting night, and water, and people, and of course I want to paint a picture of people looking at the water at night LOL :)
